REGIONAL HOUSING PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD & OPEN HOUSES
Michigan’s first Statewide Housing Plan was released in 2022 to address the numerous challenges limiting access to safe, healthy, affordable, accessible, and attainable housing for all in a community of their choice. After the plan was released, regional groups (known as Regional Housing Partnerships or RHPs) were created to engage with local groups and create regional plans that support the larger statewide plan.
The regional groups are made up of municipal leaders, community resource agencies, affordable housing developers, health and human service agencies, and others dedicated to improving the well-being of their communities.
Ultimately, the Regional Housing Partnerships are tasked with building a connected, collaborative housing ecosystem to address the affordable housing crisis in their communities.
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) announced earlier this year that the Genesee Lapeer Shiawassee Region V Planning and Development Commission (GLS Region V) and Communities First, Inc. (CFI) will partner to lead the Regional Housing Partnership (RHP) in Region H, which includes the counties of Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Sanilac, Tuscola, and Huron.
GLS Region V and CFI worked with community leaders, housing developers, municipalities, and community agencies to develop the Draft Regional Housing Partnership Action Plan for Region H through several meetings held in 2023. The action plan highlights the goals, strategies and key performance indicators outlined by the Regional Housing Partnership. Now, the team is seeking the input of the public to ensure this draft Action Plan matches the needs of our region.

Region H will host two (2) open house sessions as part of the public engagement portion of the Regional Housing Partnership Action Plan. The goal of the open houses is to provide information and gather input on the proposed goals, strategies, and key performance indicators.
You are invited to participate in each of the open house sessions which will be held at the following locations:
•Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Huron County Senior Center, 150 Nugent Road, Bad Axe, MI 48413
•Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Flint Farmers’ Market Ramsdell Room, 300 East 1st Street, Flint, MI 48502
There is also an opportunity to participate and provide comments via an online survey, and this can be done at any time that works for respondents. The survey includes 9 questions and should take no more than five minutes to complete. We would strongly encourage respondents to review the action plan links before filling out the survey. Understanding what is most important to you will help the region prioritize how to best achieve housing stability for all.
