On December 2nd, 2025, the Genesee County Planning Commission recommended to the Genesee County Board of Commissioners to approve the release of the 2025 Genesee: Our County, Our Future Master Plan. On December 10th, 2025, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners approved the distribution of the Draft 2025 Genesee County Master Plan for public review and comment. A 63-day public comment period for the proposed “Genesee: Our County, Our Future” Master Plan and corresponding Transportation Air Quality Conformity Determination will be held from December 22nd, 2025, through February 23rd, 2026. The “Genesee: Our County, Our Future” Master Plan is a combined plan that serves as the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan for Genesee County.
During the 63-day review period, public comments will be collected by the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission staff. After the review period, a public hearing will be scheduled by the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission to hear verbal comments and to review those collected. Adoption of the Master Plan follows this public review period and hearing.
A Master Plan is a comprehensive document created to address transportation, community development, housing, infrastructure, and the environment. Federal transportation legislation requires that each metropolitan planning organization produce an LRTP with a minimum twenty-year planning horizon. The 2050 LRTP includes strategies/actions that lead to the development of an integrated, intermodal transportation system that facilitates safe and efficient movement of people and goods, while addressing current and future transportation demands. The Consolidated Plan is a comprehensive planning document that identifies the county’s overall needs for affordable housing, supportive housing, and community development, along with strategies to address those needs. The Consolidated Plan provides data and analysis used to prioritize community development needs and projects.
The draft “Genesee: Our County, Our Future” plan and supporting materials are available for review on the www.ourfuturegenesee.org website, and at the GCMPC office listed at the end of this notice.
