Genesee County – 2022 Home Improvement Program (HIP)
The program provides emergency home repair assistance to eligible owner-occupied single-family homeowners aged 62 and over through deferred payment loans throughout Genesee County except non-participating municipalities including the Cities of Clio, Flint, and Davison, and the Village of Lennon and Otter Lake. The funds will assist low to moderate-income homeowners with home improvements including roofing, window, furnaces, wells, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
This activity will be funded with $200,000 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Genesee County – 2022 Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)
Genesee County shall provide funding for HOME TBRA activities to benefit low-and-moderate income residents throughout Genesee County.
This activity will be funded with $70,232 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Genesee County – 2022 HOME Down Payment Assistance (DPA)
Genesee County shall provide funding for Down Payment Assistance to benefit low-and moderate-income residents throughout Genesee County.
This activity will be funded with $15,000 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Genesee County – 2022 HOME Planning and Administration
Genesee County shall provide funding for HOME Planning and Administration of HOME projects throughout Genesee County.
This activity will be funded with $93,683 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Genesee County – 2022 Housing Activities
Genesee County shall provide funding for Housing activities to benefit low-and moderate-income residents throughout Genesee County.
This activity will be funded with $112,088 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Genesee County – 2022 Housing Study
Genesee County shall conduct a countywide housing study. This housing study will include an assessment of specific qualifying populations as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in relation to their housing needs as well as an overall assessment of the housing inventory in Genesee County. Information collected from this assessment will be used to develop recommendations to improve housing gaps and prioritize available funding throughout the county.
This activity will be funded with $100,000 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Habitat for Humanity – 2022 HOME New Construction/Rehab
Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is proposing to build two new construction homes. The units at 2256 Nerredia St, Flint, MI 48532 (Flint Township) and 9046 N. Genesee Rd, Mt. Morris, MI 48458 (Thetford Township) will both be new construction. 2256 Nerredia St will have a length of 28’ and width of 48’. The depth of excavation will be 6’5” for a total surface area of 1,344 square feet. 9046 N Genesee Road will have a length of 30’ and a width of 42’. The depth of excavation will be 6’5” for a total surface area of 1,260 square feet. The houses will be accessible, have Energy Star rated appliances and Water-sense fixtures, continuous 1″ tongue and groove foam on the exterior with a sprayed 2×4 cavity on the interior will allow for increased insulation and non-toxic building materials will be utilized. The homes will be sold to buyers who are below 80% of the area median income.
Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is proposing to rehabilitate two existing homes. 11116 N. Bray Rd, Clio, MI 48420 (Thetford Township) and 11301 Wing Dr, Clio, MI 48420 (Vienna Township).
This activity will be funded with $445,830 of 2022 Genesee County HOME funds.
Communities First, Inc – 2022 Multi-family New Construction
Communities First Inc is proposing to construct a mixed-use (residential and supportive service) development for individuals and families and will involve redeveloping a vacant lot. The name of this development is Orchard Grove, and the address is 2765 Flushing Rd, Flint, MI 48504. The proposed project will be comprised of 17 1-bedroom units, 18 2-bedroom units, and 5 3-bedroom units for a total of 40 mixed-income rental housing units serving individuals and families in Flint, MI. The proposed project will also contain approximately 5,297 square feet of space related to on-site supportive services including a private meeting space, gym and wellness space, children’s play area, computer training, tenant storage, and community room. The total square footage for the building will be 51,667 square feet and will be 176’ 8” long by 124’ 6” wide on the west of the building and 62’ 10” wide on the east end. The foundation for the building will be 4’ deep and the building will be 40’ high from the ground. The building improvements will be fully accessible in all common areas, all apartment units will be visitable including no step entry, barrier free parking – with ramps as needed, barrier free entry door, barrier free ½ bath, electrical switches at reachable heights, accessible route through living space. 7 of the units are proposed to use Genesee County HOME funding including 2 1BR/1BA units at 40% income level, 1 1BR/1BA unit at 80% income level, and 4 2BR/1BA units at 80% income level. This project will also utilize tax credit equity through MSHDA’s low-income housing tax credit program. The total project cost for this development is $10,680,703 and will utilize $1,000,000 in Genesee County HOME funds.
