Down Payment Assistance

The HOME Down Payment Assistance Program is funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development through the HOME Investment Partnerships grant programs.

Genesee County, working in partnership with local financial institutions, will provide down payment and closing cost assistance to low and moderate income first-time home buyers purchasing residences.

You may be eligible for HOME funds if you:

  • Are a first-time home buyer (have not owned a home in the last three years)
  • Are credit worthy
  • Can qualify for a mortgage
  • Make no more than 80% of the median income, adjusted for household size

The Down Payment Assistance (DPA) program is supported by HOME funds. This program works in partnership with participating financial institutions to provide down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible low and moderate income home buyers in the out-county area.

If would like to participate in the Down Payment Assistance Program, contact one of the participating financial institutions and apply for a mortgage.
