  • Recycle Day events are held annually where residents are able to drop-off a variety of hard to dispose-of materials for free (see list above).
  • When coming to Recycle Day, event staff and directional signs will help guide the public to the entrance and into line.
  • Appointments are required to attend Recycle Day events resulting in minimal wait times of 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Recycle Day staff will check you into the event by asking for your proof of registration.
  • Multiple stations will be available for you to drop-off items. Recycle Day staff will be positioned throughout the event to guide you in the proper direction.
  • Items brought to Recycle Day will be unloaded by event staff, so please stay in your vehicle at all times.
  • If you cannot make the Recycle Day event, see the Drop-Off Center Directory page or call the Recycle Hotline at (810) 762-7744 for other locations to take some of your hard-to-recycle items.

Tire Recycling Event

In addition to the 2023 Recycle Day events, GCMPC will also be holding a free tire recycling event for Genesee County residents. This event is being held in partnership with the City of Flint and Environmental Rubber Recycling. Event will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, from 9AM to 1PM at Environmental Rubber Recycling’s location at 6515 North Dort Highway, Flint, MI 48505.

  • Up to 10 passenger tires accepted per vehicle only
  • Tires off the rim only
  • No commercial or agricultural tires
  • No commercial vehicles may enter (e.g., box trucks, tractor trailers, commercial trailers, etc.)
  • No appointments required

Free Latex Paint Recycling Program

Genesee County residents are able to drop-off latex paint for free at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 101 Burton Street, Flint, MI 48503 from 9:30AM – 4:00PM Tuesday through Saturday. Also, latex paint can be disposed-of at Genesee County Recycle Day events or by referring to this guide.
